June 02, 2016. BEAC "Barents Forest Sector Network" Working Group Meeting was hold "in the fields" of the V International scientific-practical conference "Innovations and technologies in forestry 2016" (ITF-2016, FBU "SPbNIILH", St. Petersburg).

The Working Group reviewed and discussed the issues of the boreal forests, bioenergy, the role of the forests in mitigating climate change and the prospects for multilateral cooperation in the Nordic forestry within the Barents / Euro-Arctic Council. The meeting had a constructive exchange of views on the current situation in the forestry sector

N.A. Demidova, Deputy Director of Sciences, attended the meeting of the Working Group. She made presentation “Current status, management, use and reproduction of the boreal forest in the Russian Federation”.

Participants of the meeting discussed and agreed on the theme of the next meeting of the BEAC Working Group "Barents Forest Sector Network ", to be held in the first half of 2017 in the city of Pushkino, Moscow region.
