Fourth Session INTERGOVERNMENTAL TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP ON FOREST GENETIC RESOURCES Rome, 10-12 May 2016

The Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA), established a subsidiary Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Forest Genetic Resources (ITWG-FGR) at its Twelfth Regular Session in 2009, to review the situation and technical issues related to biodiversity in the area of forest genetic resources (FGR), and advise and make recommendations to the Commission on these matters. The Working Group shall also consider the progress made in implementing the Commission’s programme of work on FGR as well as any other matters referred by the Commission.

The main items of the agenda of the 4th Session by the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on FGR:

  • Follow-up to the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Forest Genetic Resources:
  • Implementation of the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Forest Genetic Resources
  • Targets and indicators for forest genetic resources
  • Monitoring the implementation of the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use
  • Development of Forest Genetic Resources
  • Development of national strategies and action plans for the conservation, sustainable use and development of forest genetic resources
  • Access and benefit-sharing for forest genetic resources
  • Review of the Commission's Multi-Year Programme of Work
