United Nations Forum on Forests, Eleventh session

Eleventh session United Nations Forum on Forests will take place in New York on, 4-15 May 2015.

Natalia Demidova, deputy director on sciences, will participate in Open-ended Intergovernmental Ad Hoc Expert Group on the International Arrangement on Forests. The Group will propose recommendations on the future of the arrangement to the Forum at its eleventh session.

The Expert Group shall provide advice and input, in support of the mandate of the Forum at its eleventh session, on:

(a) the international arrangement on forests, the non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests and the contribution of forests to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals;

(b) the review of the performance and effectiveness of the arrangement;

(c) an assessment of the implementation of the instrument and the achievement of the four global objectives on forests; and

(d) a full range of options for the future of the arrangement for consideration by the Forum at its eleventh session.
