The Second Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Forest Genetic Resources

The Second Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Forest Genetic Resources will take place in Rome, Italy, 23 – 25 January 2013.

The Working Group was established by the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture at its Twelfth Regular Session in October 2009. The Statutes of the Working Group are available on the Commission’s website at: http://www.fao.org/nr/cgrfa/cgrfa-about/cgrfa-sector/cgrfa-sfg/en/

The Second Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Forest Genetic Resources will review the draft report on The State of the World’s Forest Genetic Resources and priority areas for action, as identified in Country Reports and regional consultations; and review and evaluate options for a follow up and make recommendations to the Commission.

Federal Forest Agency FFA prepared a report on the state of forest genetic resources of the Russian Federation, which is a part of the global report. Scientists from VNIILM, DalNIILH, NIILGIS, SevNIILH and IOGen RAS were involved in the report preparation. The report was prepared under the leader of Dr. M.M. Palenova (VNIILM).

N. Demidova, the national focal point for the conservation of forest genetic resources, will participate in the Second Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Forest Genetic Resources.
